Tenerife vs Antalya: Which is Best for Winter Sun?

Last updated: March 2026

🏆 The Winner

Tenerife wins on weather. For absolute certainty of sunshine and warm sea temperatures between December and February, Tenerife is the safer bet. However, Antalya wins on luxury value—offering high-end heated pool resorts and world-class spa facilities for roughly half the price of a mid-range Tenerife hotel in the winter.

Winter Value Comparison: 2026 Data

1. The Weather Factor

**Tenerife** is the most reliable choice for a traditional "shorts and t-shirt" holiday in the depth of winter. While the north can be damp, the southern resorts (Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje) enjoy a microclimate that rarely drops below 18°C. **Antalya** in winter is more like a pleasant UK spring day. It's excellent for hiking, golf, and sightseeing, but you will need a jacket in the evenings and should choose a hotel with a heated indoor pool if you plan on swimming.

2. The Budget Breakdown

If your primary goal is to minimize spend, **Antalya** is the clear winner. Because it is outside Turkey's "main" season, 5-star resorts drop their prices significantly to attract winter visitors. You can often book a luxury all-inclusive Antalya break for less than the cost of a basic self-catering apartment in Tenerife during the same week.

3. Flight Availability

Both destinations have excellent winter flight frequency from the UK. Tenerife is served by almost every major low-cost carrier from regional airports. Antalya has slightly fewer winter routes from smaller UK airports, meaning you may have more choice of departure days when booking Tenerife.
